Eric

Born and raised on the island of Oahu, Eric Nakamoto is a 5th generation Japanese-American to live in Hawaii.

In 2010 he sold everything he owned including his Aiea condo unit to pursue his dreams of aviation.

In September 2011, he packed two large suit cases and moved to the mainland in hopes to seek out the best training to fly powered hang gliders also known as trikes.

After several months of living in hangars throughout the West Coast freezing his okole off, he decided it was time to follow the heat and head South.

In January 2012, Eric settled in Zephyrhills, Florida where he would make Zephyrhills Municipal Airport his ultimate training ground.

"I literally locked myself in a trailer, studied, and flew. That's all I did. But I was free, I was flying."

In July 2013, with his mentors and team of extraordinary trike pilots, Eric flew across the nation from Zephyrhills, Florida to Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The incredible journey was a 2,500 mile cross-country where he would fly into the largest and most prestigious airshow in America known as Oshkosh AirVenture.

By May 2014, Eric had flown into over 40 different airports across the nation. He has logged more night flight hours in a WSC aircraft than any other pilot in Hawaii. Eric has experience flying through all Classes of Airspace including the nation's busiest of all Miami's Class Bravo. After navigating through every type of adverse weather conditions the 'mainland' threw at him, Eric decided it was time to return home to Honolulu but not before flying into Sun 'n Fun, Trike Fest, Georgia, and Key West.

Today, Eric Nakamoto owns and operates Hang Gliding Hawaii, Oahu and Honolulu's Premiere Flight Center. Eric is a FAA Certified Private Pilot w/ Night Flight Endorsements, Certified Flight Instructor, Advanced Ground Instructor, Light-Sport Repairman with a Maintenance Rating for WSC and Fixed Wing Aircraft, and an Independent Rotax Maintenance Technician.
